We Found A Family Living In This Abandoned Mansion Which Used To Be A Royal Marine Museum!
Eastney Barracks, located in Southsea, Portsmouth, was the historic headquarters of the Royal Marine Artillery, established in 1867 and closed in 1991 Designed by William Scamp, the Grade 1 & 2 Listed site is surrounded by history and full historical and architectural significance! The former Officers' Mess was used as the museum from 1972 to 2017. In 2020, Grand Hotel Excelsior International purchased the site for redevelopment….. sadly the owner passed away and the work was never completed… The site is now back up for sale once again… The main building is of substantial Victorian construction including an imposing central section with balcony colonnades, a twin external staircase and central stone gabling incorporating a coat of arms. Places like this should not be allowed to fall into a state of disrepair…. In the former Mountbatten Room alone, the ceiling is rumoured to coast a whopping £1200 a square meter to restore, it simply makes no Sense why people just let this happen?….
