Is Mysore the Next Chiang Mai? Slow Living & Digital Nomad Life in India 🇮🇳

I’ve spent months living in Mysore, India, and now I’m back for a second round. If you like Chiang Mai, you’d probably enjoy Mysore too. Both are cultural heritage cities with a laid-back pace, plenty of cafés, healthy organic food, and a lifestyle that suits people into wellness, yoga, and slow living. Mysore has its own advantages. It’s the birthplace of Ashtanga yoga, so the yoga scene is deeper and more traditional than most places. The traffic is very light, air pollution is low, and costs are cheaper than Chiang Mai. Internet is fast, healthcare is solid, and you also have access to Ayurvedic medicine alongside regular clinics. The weather is mild, and it’s even a coffee-growing climate, which adds to the relaxed vibe. For digital nomads, Gokulam is the main bubble — cheap organic food, cafés, and western-standard apartments. But even outside of Gokulam, Mysore is comfortable and livable, with calm streets, a real palace to explore, and a rhythm that makes it easy to settle in. I even ran my own server while living here, so remote work is no problem.
