Wind Blew This Collected Fir Over — Here’s How I Saved It

A collected fir bonsai got blown off the bench, and I had to rescue it fast with akadama. In this bonsai care video, I show a careful repair after soil loss without full repotting. Last summer, I collected several fir trees in the mountains, and they overwintered well at my nursery. Recently, strong wind knocked one off the shelf, and part of its original forest soil spilled out. Instead of doing a drastic change, I added akadama to stabilize the root ball and improve the soil structure around the remaining native mix. For collected conifers, I prefer careful corrections that protect tree health and reduce stress. This approach can also be useful for bonsai growers working with juniper, pine, and other yamadori material. Watch the full rescue and see how I handled this simple but important fix. #bonsai #yamadori #bonsaicare
