Miami to the Everglades: From Concrete Jungle to River of Grass

Miami travel guide meets Everglades adventure! We explore Downtown Miami, Brickell, South Beach, Brightline Station, and an airboat ride deep into the River of Grass. Today we’re exploring my own backyard — Miami, Florida — with friend ‪@DizTraveler‬ the original Pelicanhead, who arrives on the Brightline from Orlando. We start in Downtown Miami at the modern Brightline station, then drive through Brickell, Biscayne Boulevard, Bayfront Park, Freedom Tower, PortMiami, and South Beach. Along the way, I share a few personal memories from my years living and working around Miami — from office commutes to old nightlife gigs and the ever-changing skyline. But the real adventure begins when we leave the concrete jungle behind and head west on the Tamiami Trail toward the Everglades. At Coopertown, we hop on an airboat for a ride through the River of Grass, hoping to spot alligators before the day is over. From Miami’s skyscrapers to South Beach Art Deco and finally wild gators in Everglades National Park, this is a fast-paced South Florida day trip full of memories, history, local flavor, and a little swampy adventure.
