The Copper Snake, Archetypes, and the Dragon – Parshat Chukat

The Copper Snake, Archetypes, and the Dragon – Parshat Chukat In this video, I explore one of the most mysterious symbols in the Torah: the copper snake staff of Moshe Rabbeinu found in Parshat Chukat. This ancient image has fascinated people for thousands of years and continues to appear throughout human history in different forms. What is an archetype? Why do certain symbols seem to reappear across cultures, religions, and civilizations? I discuss two major ways of understanding archetypes. One approach sees them as spiritual symbols that originate in higher realms. Once a person succeeds in bringing such a symbol into the world, others can access and connect to it as well. A second approach suggests that human beings are constantly connected to the spiritual realm in real time, and archetypes emerge through that living connection. From the copper serpent of Moshe to dragons, staffs, healing symbols, and mythological imagery, we examine how these patterns echo throughout history. I also discuss Pearl Benisch's book To Vanquish a Dragon and the powerful symbolism of the dragon as it relates to the Nazi regime and the struggle against evil. The Torah is not meant to be studied only through logic and analysis. We need both the left hemisphere and the right hemisphere of the brain. The left hemisphere helps us understand the text, the laws, and the arguments. The right hemisphere helps us encounter symbols, archetypes, meaning, and spiritual depth. A complete Torah learning experience requires both. #ParshatChukat #Chukat #Torah #Moshe #CopperSerpent #Archetypes #JewishThought #PearlBenisch #ToVanquishADragon #NaziGermany #Spirituality #BiblicalSymbols #JewishHistory #Mysticism #TorahLearning #Parsha #Judaism #Symbolism #JewishEducation #BibleStudy
