Is Poreč worth visiting as a summer vacation spot?

Croatia is a must visit location in Europe, particularly its coastline, the Istrian peninsula is fantastic with its blend of Venetian and Austrian history. Poreč is on the western coastline, directly across from Venice. (Apparently on a clear day you can see Venice, I never have!) The town's name was changed to Poreč in the late 1940s, it had been known as Parenzo. With the acknowledgement of the importance of bilingualism it's now known as Poreč/Parenzo, in spoken language either is used. Generally in English Poreč is in common usage.
