Autism, Elopement, and the New Solution We're Trying Out
Maggie, our eight year old who is on the autism spectrum, has a big problem with elopement (running away without realizing the danger) and while we've worked with therapists for years it hasn't really improved, and recently seems to have gotten worse. So we've been brainstorming our own solutions, particularly because Maggie is able to communicate her love of running. Will buying a harness that allows Maggie to safely run and explore with family members help her burn off that energy and get the proprioceptive input she needs so that her eloping is reduced? We're not sure, but we do know that our first day with her new harness setup was definitely a success. My Subscribe Pillow: https://amzn.to/2IYHen2 Welcome to Someday I'll Sleep, formerly Coffee and Cupcakes! We post family vlogs daily, about our lives and because we have two daughters on the spectrum we post quite a bit about autism! You'll get glimpses of what's going on at the moment in our lives, usually in a little town in Michigan, or in the city that Paul works in and where we have about a million therapy sessions each week. Paul and Cammie (the dad and mom at Coffee and Cupcakes) have 5 children. Sadie is 10, Maggie is 8, Patrick is 5, James is 3, and Tessie is now 2!
