Military Parade in Athens / Independence Day / Στρατιωτική παρέλαση 25η Μαρτίου 2026 Αθήνα

March 25 is one of the most important holidays in Greece. Independence Day from 400 years of Ottoman occupation is celebrated. A part of Greece got its independence in 1821 and it too another 90 years until the whole country got rid of the Turks. The last parts of Greece got independent in winter of 1912/13. Therefore a massive parade takes place in Athens and smaller parades in many other places around the country. Thousands of people gathered today to watch the 2 mile long parade.
