For years our family has dreamed about moving to Italy, and lately I realized something: I had no idea what ordinary life in Lucca would actually cost. Not vacation life. Tuesday life. So I finally sat down and built a real budget for our family of three (plus Loki 🐕): housing, school, healthcare, groceries, transportation, coffee, fun, and all the little things that quietly add up. This isn't a “backpacker in Italy” budget or a “retired millionaire” budget. This is our attempt to estimate what life in Lucca might actually look like for a family trying to make a dream real. Some numbers came from research. Some came from actual documents. Some are educated guesses. And honestly… this spreadsheet keeps changing. By the end of this video I finally landed on a number.
