http://www.nivruttibuasarnaik.com/pro... *The following information may disturb the Jaipur-Atrauli Gharana singers & fans: Pandit Govindrao Tembe (1881-1955) has written a biography of Ustad Alladiya Khan in Marathi (titled गायनमहर्षी अल्लादियाखां यांचे चरित्र) and published in 1954. Here is a quotation in which Ustad himself lamented multiple times as below: "खांसाहेबांची गायकी एवढी श्रेष्ठ; पण ती समाजात व्हावी तशी लोकप्रिय झाली नाही. लोकप्रियता तर सोडाच पण त्यांच्या गायकीची यथार्थ व सांगोपांग रीतीने आठवण करून देईल अशी शिष्यपरंपराही निर्माण झाली नाही. ही खंत "बाबा, आमच्या घराण्यातून सरस्वतीने आपले पाऊल बाहेर काढले"अशा शब्दांत खुद्द खांसाहेब वेळोवेळी प्रदर्शित करीत. Govindrao concluded- खानसाहेबांनी भगीरथ प्रयत्नाने आणलेली ही 'गायनगंगा' सरस्वती नदीप्रमाणे मुंबईच्या भूमीत अल्लादियाखांसाहेबांच्या बरोबरच अदृश्य झाली." (page nos. 15 & 9). It roughly means: Ustad lamented- 'Saraswati took her step out of our family.' Govindrao Tembe concluded- His gayanganga disappeared, like Saraswati river, in the land of Mumbai with himself. No competent disciples, who could/can demonstrate his complex gayaki, were developed. One of the reasons for this was untimely death of Bhaskarbuva Bakhle on April 8, 1922.
