The Threefold Mahayana Morality by Venerable George Churinoff

Morality is generally thought of as the restraint from negative actions of our body, speech and mind. However, in the Mahayana the concept of morality is expanded to include two other categories of morality: the accumulation of virtuous qualities and acting for the welfare of others. This talk will review the traditional division of restraint from negative actions such as guarding from the ten non-virtuous actions and taking the lay and ordained vows of individual liberation - and will explain the additional Mahayana divisions of morality of accumulating virtuous qualities and benefiting sentient beings. This teaching was given on August 14, 2022 at the request of Dharmakaya Buddhist Center, Reno, Nevada.
