40th anniversary of Bastion Point occupation
Ngāti Whātua o Ōrākei say they would have ceased to exist if their land at Takaparawhau was not returned. 40 years ago today Ngāti Whātua o Ōrākei and its supporters began a 506 day occupation of Takaparawhau which the land government planned to use for housing. Ripeka Timutimu has this story.
