LEYTE GULF - Battle of Sibuyan Sea | War Thunder Short Film/Documentary

The battle of Leyte Gulf is one of the largest naval battles of WW2, involving over 300 ships and more than 200,000 personnel. It features the last major counter-attack by Imperial Japanese Navy Forces and the first use of the desperate “Kamikaze” attacks. The battle occurred in conjunction with the beginning of allied operations to retake the Philippines, specifically the landings on the island of Leyte. The overall battle took place between the 23rd-26th of October 1944 and consisted of 4 major and multiple smaller engagements, the most significant ones being the battles of the Sibuyan sea, Surigao Strait, Samar and Cape Engaño. This video is covers the first of these battles, namely the Battle of Sibuyan Sea. I intend to create a follow up video in the next 1-2 months with the Surigao Strait and then continue the series at a later date.
