BMW X5 Transfer Case Replacement DIY (2019-2026 BMW G05 X5, G06 X6, G07 X7)

►The ATC13 transfer case is found in BMW's latest X5, X6, and X7 models. It does a fine job when functioning, but that's not guaranteed, as they've become a regular failure point. Replacing the transfer case when it fails is the only fix, so this is one job you may have to do. It can be done at home with the right tools and plenty of patience, as long as you follow our replacement guide. The transfer case splits the engine torque, sending some of it forward to the front axle. It uses a clutch pack, a chain, and a few other moving pieces to make that happen, and they require a lubricating oil for safe operation. BMW's lifetime fluid claim has led many of these transfer cases to fail due to worn fluid, so consider a fluid service if your transfer case has yet to experience any failure symptoms. Those symptoms include binding and hesitation under acceleration, and a handful of related fault codes.
