Festival de Parintins começa nesta sexta e movimenta economia e cultura na Ilha Tupinambarana

On the banks of the Amazon River, about 420 kilometers from Manaus, Parintins transforms itself every year into a grand stage for the celebration of Amazonian culture. The city, known worldwide for the rivalry between the Caprichoso and Garantido oxen, is preparing to experience another edition of the Parintins Folklore Festival, which will reach its 59th edition in 2026. The history of the festival began in the streets, inspired by the boi-bumbá festivities brought by migrants from Northeast Brazil during the Rubber Boom. Upon arriving in the Amazon, the tradition gained new rhythms, characters, and meanings. The bumba meu boi evolved into boi-bumbá, incorporating forest legends, indigenous rituals, songs, allegories, and the strength of traditional peoples.
