World’s Highest Gorge Swing…and I Bruised My Ribs! - Oribi Gorge Adventure

On Day 2 of our stay in Scottburgh, Liya and I headed to the breathtaking Oribi Gorge for one of the biggest thrills in South Africa - Oribi Gorge Swing, the highest gorge swing in the world. The jump with Wild 5 Adventures was incredible…but when the rope caught at the bottom of the gorge swing, the harness rode into my side and left me with painful bruised ribs. Definitely a moment I won’t forget. After the adrenaline rush, we slowed things down and explored more of the area, walking across a suspension bridge and visiting a stunning overhanging rock viewpoint overlooking the gorge valley and river. Back in Scottburgh, we finished the day with a late lunch at Roosters Pub & Grill, where I enjoyed ice-cold quarts and we ate some seriously good Portuguese-style food: Espatada (rump cubes with salt, bay leaves and garlic) Chips with garlic sauce Milho frito (their own delicious pap fusion recipe) Preggo roll and chips The next morning (day 3), we visited TC Robertson Nature Reserve, where we walked the trails and spent time at a beautiful pond and bird hide.
