A little Ragnarök, as a treat | V!Hubert True Solo vs Alfaðör & Váli Abyssal Hero Battle [FEH]

100% is on, my friends. I had this nearly solved last time with an AoE set, but lost it to an illegitimate maneuver I found late in the planning and couldn't correct. The Cleric was getting Canto from having too many units on the map with Sabotage which allowed it to move out of the way, and created a snowball effect where getting Alfador alone was possible, but fixing the canto bricked the entire strat. When I picked up Armored Ice Cap, I decided to pass it through Dedue along with Stronghold to Hubert. By doubling up on this fodder, I enabled Dedue with a Res refine and a Res seal to outscale the res check for the sabotage, so that he wouldn't count towards the number of units with sabotage. Ninja Cherche is also built to beat this check with Lilith's help, so I can keepy fillers together or spread them as needed. There are two things that set this map apart. First is the particular combination of bosses. Beating either boss isn't particularly hard, finding a skill set and a route that can handle both a fast NFU galeforcing auto healing miracle spammer and a follow up denial beacon that is fully capable of making your special literally unchargeable is a big ask. AoE is the obvious answer and does work, but has become extremely difficult to route as the meta has shifted to the expectation of damage reduction specials, so the AoE route requires extreme specificity that I couldn't manage. The second challenge is bonus management. Alfador copies both teams bonuses, meaning I can't field any bonus on my fillers that Hubert himself doesn't have, and that every bonus I take on Hubert is a liability that I am feeding to Alfador. I like this conceptually because it means every Alfador solo is different, and there's a huge cost benefit analysis to do when it comes to choosing your skills, but it did significantly increase the difficulty. In this case, extra movement is almost non-negotiable for Blubert, and there is no suitably strong alternative to Rexbolt, meaning Alfador will always have penalty negation, special acceleration, and 3 movement, as well as a significant boost to his stats and special suppression. It's...really difficult. I'm spinning so many plates here that my build is almost entirely utility and very little stats in the end. Fatal Smoke is the crux of the build, it's ostensibly for Vali herself but it's actually the Briar Axe Knight that it really helps with. Without clearing the far save the map is extremely claustrophobic and risky, and Hubert's own damage against this thing will light him up in almost every scenario while it survives and counters with Vali's support. It's awful. With it gone I'm free to pick away at the map while stacking the Great Talent from Armored Ice Cap, which will quickly let me surpass Alfador's ploy check giving me an enormous additional amount of survivability by preventing exposure from being applied. I have to have my special up to take Vali to her miracle thanks to her abyssal HP pool and colour disadvantage, so I keep the staff around just to prep my special, while pushing Alfador to the far corner. While this is happening, I do have to make sure I am closest to Alfador, Vali, and the cleric at all times for their various distance mechanics, largely Shackle. I was able to clause the one turn I was further from Alfador as there are no defensive combats in that turn and I was taking Res Shackle from Vali anyway, but distance management was an additional complicating factor in the clear. Once Great Talent has snowballed and Vali is dealt with, you might think it's over, but Alfador will still win the endgame. If he's allowed to EP Hubert, he will deal 60 damage with Ice Wall, which he could survive except for the unavoidable 9 chip damage Alfador applies at the start of combat. PP is better as Sly echo's guaranteed follow up cancels Alfador's follow up denial, but still Hubert cannot double to get the winning special off. Alfador has 55 speed to Hubert's typical 54, with a 27 point Spd swing in his favor, based on a combination of bonuses and turns taken. It's pretty much sheer luck that I was able to overcome this with a switch from Diluvial Boost to Torrential, dropping the defense bonus for speed. With almost all slots locked for utility, there's almost nothing I could afford to change other than the A skill, so having access to an alternative stat profile of the same skill saved the run, and the V!Hortensia manual saved me the orbs of grabbing an Emblem Corrin. RIP to my Guardian+ and Deluge Charm, but now the only thing standing between V!Hubert and a full sweep is whoever pops up at the end of the month, BK has been solved since before Rexbolt, I've just been waiting for the rerun. Still not a clue how OG Hubert would beat this, and frankly it's not even worth thinking about until he has a new arcane. I can't even plan around what effects Alfador might have til I know what I'm giving him. #fireemblemheroes #feh #feheroes
