Scram Pram Wivenhoe YT

This is a condensed, and better edited version of the Scram Pram video I put up last week. As you can see, the boat sails very much better than most people could imagine. As with all cat rigs, it is important to let the sail breath and not to strap her down as you would with a sloop rig. I used to sail an International Finn in local competition, and you might note that champion Finn sailors rarely haul the boom any further in than the aft quarter. Sailing inside takes a bit of getting used to, but after awhile you adjust to not being able to feel wind changes on your cheek. For dinghy-cruising it is superb - not much water down the back of your neck, and good protection from the sun. This particular boat has a non-standard shoal-draft rudder with an end-plate. I designed it at the owners request, and it works fine. Ross Lillistone
