Golden Hour in the Alps | Watercolor Landscape Painting

Today I found inspiration in the breathtaking world of one of my favorite YouTube channels — Martijn Doolaard, a Dutch photographer, filmmaker, and travel author who is building a house in a stunning mountain landscape. Watching his videos, I found myself imagining how those mountains must look at sunrise or sunset — filled with depth and contrasting light, deep shadows and golden ridges. So I sat down and painted: a mountain landscape with dramatic diagonal lines, warm golden slopes catching the light, and one small, solitary tree standing quietly on a sunlit hillside. This painting is my small thank you for his extraordinary work. Although the landscape is inspired by the Italian Alps, I painted it while listening to country music — a song called Rear View Mirror by Timbo — because somehow, country music and mountains just belong together.
