Colorado Trail Thru Hike 2025

Conquering the Continental Divide: Our Colorado Trail Thru-Hike! Together, Inger and I successfully tackled the epic Colorado Trail, thru-hiking its entire 486 miles (782 km) from the bustling city of Denver to the charming mountain town of Durango. Our grand adventure kicked off on July 30, 2025, and after 32 grueling yet exhilarating days, we successfully completed the entire route, which carves its way directly through the heart of the majestic Rocky Mountains. We came prepared for the infamous afternoon thunderstorms—a common hiker's worry in the high Rockies—but were incredibly lucky, encountering the dramatic electrical storms on only a handful of days. As our third major thru-hike in the US, this journey once again proved that trail magic is absolutely real! We connected with the most supportive and fantastic people along the way: resilient fellow hikers, generous "Trail Angels," and kind-hearted locals who provided essential transportation for our resupply trips into town. Our absolute favorite stops for their warmth and hospitality were the beautiful small communities of Salida and Lake City. Want to read the full story?
