Virgen del Rocío University Hospital

The Virgen del Rocío University Hospital in Seville was founded in 1955 and is currently one of the largest in Spain. The complex is comprised of 4 hospitals, to enhance their overall energy efficiency, while satisfying each patient's needs in terms of comfort and room temperature, considering both their age and their pathology, a project to renovate the HVAC systems serving the hospital buildings was carried out. The project includes the installation of solar panels, the replacement of the terminals at the so-called 'Women's Hospital' and the creation of a new centralized HVAC system serving the whole hospital complex. The new system, with a total cooling capacity of 10.5 megawatts is based on 5 TECS2/SL-CA-E/S 1154 and 2 TX-W 2D1C, all Climaveneta branded, and follows the district cooling principle with a single centralized system serving all the buildings. Thanks to the installation of 7 high-efficiency chillers with magnetic levitation compressors and the new HVAC system is able to grant energy savings between 10% and 15%, thus achieving the target set by the project.
