Taking cuttings is a method of propagating a plant by cutting off a part of the plant and allowing it to root. Ideally, it's best to take cuttings in the spring, around April, when the plant begins to grow actively. However!!! Although it's out of season, I tried it in mid-January! This video shows how to do it. The Schakoba cactus introduced in the video is one that I own at my parents' house. It's an old plant that my grandmother raised with care, and now that she's passed away, my mother is taking care of it. If it's been cherished for generations, I want to grow one too! Moreover, I wanted to grow plants propagated from the same plant! So I decided to try taking cuttings. I've been at my parents' house since the end of the year to give birth, but I'll only be there until early March. So I thought I'd try taking cuttings in winter, which is out of season! So I tried taking cuttings out of season in winter, as an experiment. I'd like to see if they take root properly, and record their growth in future videos, so I hope you'll check them out.
