A Novice's Journey to Outrun a 1-Up in Tick Tock Clock (Ft. The Fixed Camera)

Did you know there are special 1-up mushrooms in Super Mario 64 that chase you down, rather than run away from Mario? Well there's something called the Green Demon Challenge, where you spawn that extra life and run around trying to collect all eight red coins and the star before the shroom can catch you. In this video, we'll be going over my journey of discovering this mechanic and tackling my version of the challenge with relatively no experience at all. I actually did not know of this challenge when I first attempted it, though I knew it was likely someone had already completed it. It seems near impossible these days to find new discoveries in Super Mario 64, but I have always wanted to make a video on this game, as this was a beloved part of my childhood. I think collectively we should consider shedding the never-ending race to be "first ever", as long as you can wrap your own spin on the topic, which I sure did here. (But I know, algorithms and all that.) Not sure anyone has done a commentary on Tick Tock Clock before, and regardless it was bound to be a fun video! Dare I say, it turned out much better than I expected! (I used the Fixed Camera so much, had a lot of fun with that!) Why Tick Tock Clock? Well at the time I thought only Tick Tock Clock had the special mushroom, and seeing as it's my favorite level in 64, I figured why not? How bad could it be? *Foreshadowing*. I was also looking for 10-minute video ideas, but you see how that turned out. Which brings me to the more regretful note this description. Based on this video, the one I tried to get out in February, and analysis from the past year, consistent long form uploads is out of my reach for now. I'm not here to make content, I'm here to make movies that resonate. But YouTube demands the former, and I have not yet found a sustainable bridge between the two. I'll keep trying of course, but in the meantime video releases are likely to slow down for a bit. Who knows though? I got my first half a million views ever on a Short just the past Monday! Truly don't think my next Short will be so lucky; we'll see.
