The Chapel of the Servants of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is located in Scy-Chazelles, directly opposite the house of Robert Schuman, one of the founders of European integration. This chapel belongs to the Congregation of the Servants of the Heart of Jesus, founded in the 19th century by Oliva Uhlrich, who became known as "Marie of the Heart of Jesus." The nuns lived a spirituality centered on adoration, silent prayer, and service to the poorest. The community settled in Scy-Chazelles after being founded in Strasbourg. The chapel holds particular significance in the life of Robert Schuman. A devout believer, he came to pray there regularly when he lived in his neighboring house between 1924 and 1963. The site has become one of the "Schumanian places," that is, places linked to his spiritual and political legacy. Robert Schuman's famous prie-dieu is preserved there. This small, personal prayer table is a reminder of Schuman's profoundly Christian faith, which he considered an essential source of his commitment to peace and European reconciliation after the Second World War. Today, the place remains a space for reflection and remembrance of him.
