Sibelius Symphony No. 2 (Score)

This is Sibelius’ Symphony No. 2 in D Major Performed by: Buenos Aires Philharmonic Movement 1: 0:00 Movement 2: 11:00 Movement 3: 27:10 Movement 4: 34:39 Sibelius wrote the first motives of this piece while enjoying the beauty of Italy in 1901. He was sent there by Baron Axel Carpelan after the premiere of Sibelius’ Finlandia. The Baron had stated "You have been sitting at home for quite a while, Mr. Sibelius, it is high time for you to travel. You will spend the late autumn and the winter in Italy, a country where one learns cantabile, balance and harmony, plasticity and symmetry of lines, a country where everything is beautiful – even the ugly. You remember what Italy meant for Tchaikovsky’s development and for Richard Strauss”. After this trip, about a year later Sibelius premiered Symphony No. 2 in Helsinki. I hope you enjoy!
