They have not violated the legal framework,” he declared, insisting that the National Elections Board must intervene to review the process. The former candidate's statements come after the Special Electoral Board of Lima Centro declared inadmissible a request submitted by the political group Juntos por el Perú to annul all votes cast at consular polling stations in Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania. The resolution states that the request was submitted after the deadline and without meeting the formal requirements stipulated by electoral regulations. Sánchez's position has been questioned because during the campaign he maintained a different stance regarding respecting the results. "I commit to respecting the results" and "if the citizens' vote indeed indicates that we have triumphed, we will celebrate, and if it indicates that we were not given our opportunity, we will acknowledge it," were some of the statements he made at the time, before the election results were known and which are now about to conclude. CRITICISM FROM VARIOUS POLITICAL SECTORS The criticism did not only come from Fuerza Popular. Several political figures also expressed their disagreement with the position adopted by Sánchez. Luis Galarreta stated that the recognition of the results is the responsibility of the electoral bodies and pointed out that the appeals filed by Juntos por el Perú had already been rejected by the electoral court. Similarly, Susel Paredes maintained that it is necessary to accept defeat and avoid actions that unnecessarily prolong the process. The controversy intensified after Sánchez called for a new national day of protest this weekend and reiterated his criticisms of the electoral process.
