(1994) TUPAC OUTSIDE COURT: "They Want to Destroy the OUTLAW"
Filmed in November 1994 outside the New York City courthouse, this archival footage captures Tupac Shakur in one of his most candid and desperate moments. Facing sexual assault charges that would eventually send him to prison, Tupac speaks directly to the press, dismantling the prosecution's case and arguing that he is being used as a scapegoat to "punish the outlaw mentality." In this raw 8-minute clip: The Defense: Tupac argues explicitly that the encounter was consensual, asking, "How am I gonna forcibly do anything to a girl after she did it to me consensually?" The "Scapegoat" Theory: He passionately claims the system is targeting him because he represents a "lawless" generation they can't control: "The reign of terror is over, the outlaw is gone... that's what they want to do." The Jury: He expresses doubt that a jury of "older, middle-class women" can understand his lifestyle or the truth of the situation. The Guns: He defends his right to bear arms, comparing himself to the NRA and asking why a Black man with legal guns is treated differently. Historical Context: This interview took place during the height of the trial. Just days after this footage was likely filmed (November 30, 1994), Tupac was shot five times in the lobby of Quad Studios. On December 1, he was convicted of sexual abuse but acquitted of sodomy and weapons charges. This video captures his mindset right before those life-altering events. #TupacShakur #2Pac #1994 #ThugLife #HipHopHistory #CourtCase #RawFootage #NewYorkCity #HezakyaNewz
