Deze dierentuin trok de aandacht aan in 2007 met de spectaculaire ontsnapping van de mannetjesgorilla Bokito. De dierentuin is 28 hectare groot en werd onderverdeeld in verschillende landzones. Diergaarde Blijdorp heeft groot nieuws : die zal totaal van concept veranderen (Masterplan 2050).
