I bought a powder coating gun and a sample pack of different powder colors. The biggest hurdle to get into powder coating is the parts have to be baked after the powder is applied. I had a used kitchen oven I was ready to dedicate to this. I cut a heavy duty rack on the cnc plasma cutting table that I could hang parts on. I also set up a sand blasting cabinet, which is important for fully cleaning parts before the powder is applied. With everything set up, I cut some test pieces and applied all the different colors. I think powder coating is going to be very handy with small metal parts I make in the barn, since clean up is so easy and powder coating has a really high durability as soon as it comes out of the oven.
