According to a proposal from the Mittelstandsunion (SME Association), part-time work for employees should only be permitted in cases of genuine necessity. Furthermore, given the high number of sick days in Germany, the CDU/CSU is considering whether malingering could be reduced by eliminating pay for the first day of illness. Former SPD Health Minister Karl Lauterbach criticizes these proposals from the CDU/CSU and warns against placing hard-working people under general suspicion and labeling them as lazy.
