How I Sand My Wood For Pyrography | Tips & Tricks | Electric Random Orbital Sander

Make sanding your wood a priority before you burn it, whether you are just starting out with pyrography or you have some experience. Woodburning is unbelievably easier on smoother wood. Burning small details, fine lines, and uniform shading techniques are easiest to learn and master on sanded wood. Your wood will also feel and look high quality and the smoothness of the wood adds to the sensory experience of holding and touching woodburning art. This tutorial demonstrates my every day sanding methods, along with tips and tricks for certain wood sizes and shapes. Side note: if you experience cold winters like myself in Canada, I suggest sanding a bunch of wood in the warmer months so you don't have to sand outside in cold weather. Be proactive so you have a winter stock of sanded wood ready to burn. Sand your wood with a coarse grit sand paper first (80 grit), then incrementally sand your wood smoother and smoother using a finer grit sand paper each time (320 being an ultra fine grit). I always use 80, 120, 220, and 320 grit in that order for each piece of wood. My Website - https://hippienorth.com My Pyrography eBook - https://hippienorth.com/products/wood...
