History of Robotech - the Macross Saga: 1985 Cartoon Retrospective with Mega Jay Retro

This is the story of the first 36 episodes of Robotech that was taken directly from Super Dimension Fortress Macross, back in 1985. This was done by Harmony Gold, under the supervision of Carl Macek. Harmony Gold merged the Macross series along with Super Dimension Cavalry Southerncross and Genesis Climber Mospeada to make the 85-episode series. This video is the history of only the Macross portion. This video tells the story of Rick Hunter, Roy Fokker as well as the Zentraedi forces. We go over the significance of the SDF-1 and Protoculture. We also discuss the history of Anime from Japan to the US, and the love triangle between Rick / Minmay / Lisa Hayesc. Harmony Gold also had sued FASA over the use of designs for Battletech as well as Hasbro over the issue regarding their Jetfire likeness. Macross was created by Studio Nue and Artland with designs by Shoji Kawamori. Big West and Tatsunoko Productions were also involved in its creation and distribution.
