Dundee Headless Torso: A True Crime Case
Dundee Headless Torso: A True Crime Case begins with body parts found on The Law after a Christmas Eve disappearance in Scotland. In December 1992, two police dogs made a horrifying discovery on Dundee Law. What first appeared to be a mystery involving unidentified remains soon became the murder investigation of Gordon Dunbar, a man last seen after festive drinks on Christmas Eve. The case led detectives to Alastair Thompson, a convicted killer who had previously murdered his grandmother before being released from prison. Thompson claimed he had not killed Gordon Dunbar and said he had only helped dispose of the body for two unnamed men — but the evidence told a very different story. Inside a ninth-floor flat at Butterburn Court, police found blood, plastic bags, tape, hacksaws, and forensic evidence that linked the scene to Gordon Dunbar. Witnesses also described Thompson’s disturbing comments in the days after the murder. This episode of They Walk Among Us examines the Dundee headless torso case, the murder of Gordon Dunbar, the conviction of Alastair Thompson, the later discovery of further remains, and the questions that haunted Gordon’s family long after the trial. A lesser-known Scottish true crime case involving Christmas Eve, body parts found in public places, forensic evidence, a chilling court case, and a killer who died in prison.
