RAF Scampton - Dambusters Experience Centre - museum concept

Horizon Park aimed to create two new and immersive museums commemorating the Dambusters and those people involved in the RAF history of Scampton. The Dambusters Experience Centre was to occupy the historically listed hanger two and create a new compelling identity through 4D cinema and atmospheric-themed environments. It would have combined significant artefacts and footage now dispersed from its old heritage museum and featured the epic story of the famous Dambusters. A top team of heritage aircraft restorers has already started the leading Lancaster replica featured in the experience. The proposed museum would have had a shop, conference facilities, café and restaurant, and an educational program for school groups. Guests would learn about the planning behind the raid and see Wing Commander Guy Gibson receive the ‘Most Secret’ order to commence Operation Chastise in his actual office with his much-loved dog. Our target audience would have been individuals passionate about conserving the historical aspects of Scampton and those interested in WW2 and the RAF. www.horizon-park.co.uk
