Dragon Quest 1 2D-HD Remake Draconian Difficulty Boss Battles - Robbin' 'Ood

I decided to play through Dragon Quest 1 in Draconian difficulty for some extra challenge and record the boss battles. While most of these are exclusively boss battles, I also included all the mandatory fights too since they needed to be overcome to progress the game. During the progression of the game, I did take the time to consume any seeds obtained to prevent excessive level farming. While this is nothing out of the ordinary, I realized that there is no definitive proof I could offer to show I didn’t toggle between difficulties. The best I could do is show the current character experience accumulated and show the monster list. You might be asking why this matters. The reason is that while you only get roughly 70% of the experience and gold from the battles the monster list will always show the normal experience and gold acquisition. I figure by showing the current experience of the character and all the entries one could do the math to see that the experience does not match and aren’t even close. The only thing that throws a wrench into would be the Shade enemies which vary in experience hence the question marks in the respective entry. Even with the shades unaccounted for the overall experience earned throughout the journey negates their impact on the overall amount from the other enemies. If you take the listed experience of each enemy, multiply their accompanying number of kills, and then add all of the entries up you will see they are roughly 70% of the hero’s total experience. This is my mind is the best proof that this was done without switching difficulty. According to my calculation the current ratio, excluding the Shade entry, is 3468 to 4708, or 73.66%. In this video I show my battle with Robbin’ ‘Ood and three Robbin’ ‘Oodlums in the Craggy Cave which constitutes the first engagement of the game. I am currently at level 12. There isn’t really anything to crazy about this battle. I begin by using dodgy dance and then go after the henchmen with the thorn whip. I find that killing off his henchmen gives you more freedom since you are reducing the number of hostile forces on the battlefield. Once they are gone, I use Zap on Robbin’ ‘Ood because it damages him more than my attacks at this point in the game. From there out it is just a matter of keeping dodgy dance active and your hit points up encase Robbin’ ‘Ood lands a critical blow. At the end of the fight, you only get 385 experience points and 287 gold from the fight on Draconian versus the normal amount of 550 experience and 410 gold. I have added a few chapters for those not wanting to see the monster list crawl: Status, monster list crawl, and settings (00:00) Journey to Craggy Cave (02:00) Robbin’ ‘Ood Boss fight (02:56)
