10 days and almost 300 kilometers on a hike through some of the most beautiful mountains in America. This video begins a new stage of my long hiking journey from Mexico to Canada. In two months on the road, I have already covered almost one and a half thousand kilometers, leaving behind the heat and exhausting desert of southern California. A completely different world lies ahead. High mountains, snow, cold water of mountain rivers and a feeling of complete remoteness from civilization. I spend these days in the highlands, walking over snowy passes, crossing raging streams and observing wildlife. Deer, marmots, birds of prey and agile squirrels become part of the daily path. Each day in the mountains requires more effort, attention and endurance, but at the same time gives a feeling of space, silence and freedom, for which it is worth going so far. In this episode, I climb the highest mountain in the continental United States. I spent the night at the summit, at an altitude of 14,000 feet, where the cold, wind, and thin air make the stay a real test. It was one of the most extreme moments of the entire hike, which made me look at my own limits and capabilities in a new way. Also in the video, I introduce you to a unique person, a forest service ranger, who has been living in the mountains every summer for almost thirty years, far from cities and everyday life. He lives in a small stone house high in the mountains, without the Internet, cell phone service, and access to civilization. His job is to look after the territory of the national park, monitor the condition of the trails and fire safety, collect data on animals and plants, and also help travelers who find themselves in difficult situations. This is a rare look at the life of a person who consciously chose solitude and a close connection with wildlife. This video is about a hike in the mountains, about a long journey on foot, about hiking and camping in the highlands. About fatigue, cold and fear, but at the same time about moments when the beauty around you wants to be silent and scream with emotions at the same time.
