After three days and more than 30 miles on the trail, the herd finally reaches fresh spring grass, fresh water, and open range. This last stretch is always the most rewarding. The cows know they're close, the pace picks up, and after days of dust, long hours, and constant attention, they spread out across the open range they've been eager for.
