New Release! Swordier’s First Elmslie Type 3e Budget Langes Messer | Full Review & Cutting Test.
Hello, All Swords Friends! We are thrilled to introduce the Swordier Elmslie Type 3e Langes Messer, – a meticulously crafted homage to the iconic single-edged blades wielded by 15th–16th century German mercenaries, townsmen, and martial artists. Rooted in the historical typology established by James Elmslie, this Messer features a Type 3e blade geometry, characterized by a robust spine, moderate taper, and pronounced curve toward the tip – ideal for delivering powerful cuts and responsive handling. 🛡️ Now available : https://swordier.com/products/swmz-10... Historically, the Langes Messer ("long knife") was favored in the German-speaking regions as a civilian sidearm and fencing weapon. It was frequently used in the tradition of Kunst des Fechtens (The Art of Fencing) as preserved by fencing masters like Johannes Lecküchner. With its clipped point and extended grip, it bridges the gap between a knife and a sword – allowing one-handed or half-swording techniques with a thumb on the spine or ricasso. Our Messer stays true to this tradition while embracing modern materials and craftsmanship. Forged from resilient 65Mn spring steel, the blade is heat-treated for excellent flexibility and impact endurance – perfect for both cutting performance and light sparring (if blunted). Specifications Overall Weight: 1020 grams Blade Length: 68 cm Blade Width at Base: 3.5 cm Distal Taper: 5 mm to 3 mm Point of Balance (PoB): 12 cm from guard Ricasso Length: 2 cm Grip Length: 11 cm (wood core wrapped in genuine leather) Blade Steel: 65Mn Spring Steel Edge: Sharpened (optional blunted version for training available) Construction: Full-tang, peened pommel Whether you're a historical European martial artist, a collector, or a lover of late medieval weaponry, the Swordier Type 3e Langes Messer offers an authentic, functional, and beautifully balanced piece ready for your collection or training gear. 📧 Inquiries: [email protected] #Messer #HEMA #LangesMesser #HistoricalWeapons #Swordier #MedievalSword #ElmslieTypology #SpringSteel #KunstDesFechtens
