Como REFORMAR arranjo de SUCULENTAS
Succulent arrangements are quite durable. But if they've been in your home for a few months, they may have started to lose their natural shape. Or maybe the base has cracked, a plant has withered, or another one is looking a little sad. Our gardener Carol Costa teaches you how to revamp your succulent arrangement and make it look like new! The first thing to do is take a look at your arrangement. If the base has broken, the next best thing is to find a new pot and replant everything. Carol chooses a pretty pot, but one that doesn't have a hole, just a marking. With a screwdriver and a few taps, a hole is easily made at the marked spot. A piece of drainage material will ensure the potting mix stays in place and only excess water drains out of the pot. Reuse the potting mix and top it up with fresh potting mix if necessary. And, take advantage of this time to fertilize – Bokashi is a great option, as it's a very complete fertilizer, rich in micronutrients and a guaranteed supply of calcium, necessary for all plants, especially succulents and cacti. Fill the pot halfway with potting mix. Speaking of potting mix, use whatever you have on hand. Of course, a potting mix for cacti and succulents is ideal, but if you don't have one, mix it with a little sand or even chopped Styrofoam to reduce water retention. Now it's time to start replanting the succulents and cacti from the old arrangement in their new home. Start with the largest plants and work your way down to the smallest. The designs and shapes of plants, when properly explored, create more interesting, elegant, and harmonious arrangements. You'll find more tips on how to create cool combinations in the Succulent Game, and there's an entire lesson on the topic in the Online Succulent Arrangement Course. Some plants outgrown? Great! It's time to get some to expand your collection! Larger clumps can be separated, and longer branches can be cut to create cuttings. Some more delicate species, such as Sedum burrito, shed their leaves easily—take the opportunity to place them in a nursery, and in a few months, you'll have new plants. Always arrange the plants so that the most attractive part is visible, and continue distributing them from largest to smallest. Colorful or green leaves, round or pointed, patterned or plain... play with colors, designs, and shapes. Also add details, such as dried leaves, cinnamon sticks, river pebbles, dried seeds, pine cones, and any other finishing touches that complement the arrangement. The trick is to use materials that have a natural appearance and won't distract from the arrangement. Once everything is planted, just water. Our plant-loving motto: "planted, watered!" Always water gently, aiming at the substrate to avoid wetting the leaves. Repair complete, new look, and your home and wallet will thank you! Even with the addition of more materials, a new pot, and the occasional plant, the entire setup cost very little. Below, you can see the prices of some items purchased; Carol Costa used others from the previous arrangement. And, since you're already busy, how about making more arrangements and even earning a little extra cash?
