MANGAIA, COOK ISLANDS: THANK YOU FOR HAVING US! [Population: 500].

Mangaia is the second largest island in the Cook Islands by land size and also boasts a large(ish) population of around 500 people (that's large for the Pa Enua - the outer Cook Islands). There's plenty to explore including many incredible and very historic caves set into the ancient makatea (fossilised coral). The weekly morning market on a Friday is definitely worth a visit (though it turns out you don't need to get up quiiiiite as early as we did!). There are beautiful beaches to swim at, or watch the sunset at the harbour in the late afternoon. It's worth making the drive out to the southern tip to check out the remains of the 1904 Saragossa Shipwreck (you can even find some of the coal that spilt when it was wrecked on the island). Mangaia is a short 40 minute flight from Rarotonga and it's easy and convenient to rent a motorbike or vehicle to get around the island. In this episode we are staying at Babe's Place in Oneroa, Mangaia. Thanks for watching! ▶︎SUBSCRIBE!
