John Dowland - Lachrimae - Mr Bellicanta: harpsichord

'Lachrimae' by John Dowland (1563-1626). I play this keyboard transcription from a volume that includes most (if not all) of Dowland's compositions for lute. The volume includes the lute tablature as well. I knew this piece as a song for two voices and lute 'Flow my tears', from Dowland's 'Second Booke of Songes'. Also, from a record by Julian Bream (lute solo) as 'Lachrimae antiquae'. In 1604 Dowland published a collection of works for viols, with lute reduction, entitled 'Lachrimae' with the subtitle 'Seaven Teares Figured in Seaven Passionate Pavans with divers other Pavans, Galiards and Almands'. The famous 'Lachrimae antiquae' is the first work in this collection. https://www.buymeacoffee.com/theclavi...
