21st Century Old Havana | Dr. Eusebio Leal Spengler | Talks at Google

As the official Historian of the City of Havana, Dr. Leal is in charge of the restoration and administration of Old Havana, a UNESCO world heritage site. Shortly after Google signed our first commercial agreement with Cuba, we premiered a virtual reality documentary, titled “Nuestro Martí” on the life of Cuba’s national hero, José Martí and launched the Cuban Arts & Culture platform. Dr. Leal is not only the film’s narrator, but also an expert on Martí, the history of Cuba, and the relationship between the US and Cuba. Dr. Leal discusses how Martí built bridges between the US and Cuba well before the two countries’ recent rapprochement and how his legacy has inspired his own work in preserving Cuba’s past to share with the world.
