Leven Bus Station & Temporary Bus Station From Above, 4K Drone Footage
Bus services at Leven Bus Station in Fife will temporarily move to the nearby Promenade Car Park while major improvement works take place. The upgrade project is worth around £300,000 and aims to improve the condition and safety of the bus station for passengers. The main reason for the work is that the surface of the bus station concourse has become badly worn over time. Parts of the ground have broken surfaces, damaged paving blocks and kerbs that have moved out of place. Although repairs have been carried out in the past to manage these problems, the condition of the area has now become poor enough that a full resurfacing is required to keep the station safe and accessible for the public. To solve this issue, Fife Council plans to completely resurface the concourse area. The upgrade will make the station safer, easier to access and more comfortable for passengers waiting for buses. The project will be funded through Transport Scotland’s Bus Infrastructure Fund, which supports improvements to public transport facilities. During the construction period, which is expected to last about five weeks, bus services will operate from a temporary bus station located at Promenade Car Park, which is only a short distance away from the current bus station. Temporary bus stops will be clearly marked with signs, and information notices will be placed around the area to guide passengers. Work to prepare the temporary location started on Monday 9 February, and buses began operating from the Promenade Car Park on Thursday 12 February. Passengers are advised to allow a little extra travel time during the early stages of the change and to follow the signs showing where each bus stop is located. As part of the upgrade, the station will also receive new accessibility features, including dropped kerbs, tactile paving for visually impaired passengers and safety guard rails. In addition, one of the bus stances will be extended so that it can accommodate larger buses and potentially support electric bus charging infrastructure in the future. Overall, the improvements are intended to create a safer, more modern and accessible bus station, while also supporting wider regeneration plans for the Leven town centre. Once the refurbishment is completed, bus services will move back to the main bus station.
