Students at Akita International University have developed an app to share bear sighting information. The app offers a highly convenient service, allowing users to quickly identify potential dangers. The bear sighting information sharing app, "KumaPap," was released on the 13th. This app was developed by BearBell, a startup company founded by students at Akita International University. KumaPap shares bear sighting information posted by app users. If a sighting occurs near your location, you will receive a push notification within 5 seconds of the post, allowing you to quickly understand the danger. In addition to sighting information posted within the app, information posted to Akita Prefecture's black bear information map system, "Kumadas," is also reflected on the map, aiming to unify bear-related information. Furthermore, a "Family Link" function has been added, allowing family members to share information about bear sightings in their living areas. KumaPap can be used for free by downloading the app to your smartphone. BearBell also plans to use artificial intelligence (AI) to predict bear sightings in the future.
