A top United States official has expressed concern that the Taliban might be breaking a commitment to allow free passage to Afghans seeking to reach Kabul airport in an effort to depart the country. The comments from the Deputy Secretary of State came after the U.S. Embassy in Kabul alerted people that it could not ensure safe passage to the airport where the U.S. military controlled the perimeter - in a city and country where the Taliban had control.
