Jak dobrać klimatyzator i zaplanować montaż. Czy jednym urządzeniem schłodzisz całe mieszkanie?

In this episode of the Energy Talk Show, we discuss home air conditioning – from selecting the unit's power output, through actual energy consumption, to installation, condensation, and the possibility of cooling adjacent rooms. We examine how much electricity a typical split air conditioner with a cooling capacity of approximately 3.5 kW can use to cool a room of approximately 35 square meters. Depending on use, sunlight exposure, building insulation, and the amount of glazing, consumption can range from approximately 100 to as much as 500 kWh per year. We also explain how to initially select air conditioning power. A common rule of thumb is approximately 100 W per square meter of floor space, but this won't always be sufficient. Factors such as room height, sun exposure, large windows, attic space, number of household members, electrical appliances, and the quality of the building's insulation are all important. In this episode, we also discuss air conditioning installation: what refrigerant pipes are needed, what ducts are used for 2.5-3.5 kW and 5 kW units, the power supply to the outdoor unit, and whether air conditioning installation can be done yourself. We also devote considerable attention to condensation. We explain where condensation comes from, how much water can be produced during air conditioning operation, and why proper condensate drainage is so important. It's estimated that an air conditioner can generate approximately 0.3-0.5 liters of condensation per hour for every 1 kW of cooling, so a 5 kW unit can produce as much as 1.5-2 liters of water per hour. Finally, we answer a common question: can one air conditioner cool an adjacent room? We explain how cold and warm air behave, why cold isn't distributed as evenly as many people think, and when such a solution might make sense. If you're considering air conditioning in your home, apartment, living room, bedroom, or attic, this episode will help you better understand how an air conditioner works, how much it might cost to run, and what to look out for before installation.
