4 AM Jamia Nagar Sehri Food Walk I Aligarh's famous Matri Omelete + Doodh Feni + Keeme ki Tahri

For the Muslim, Ramzan is a holy month is marked by fasting and feasting alike. The daily fasting lasts from early morning till evening. The early morning prayer is preceded by early morning meal called seheri. It is a pre-dawn meal that is enjoyed before starting the fasting span. For them shehri is an important meal as it keeps them going till the evening. To see what all people have for sehri, we have embarked on a food walk with blogger MJ Gul, a budding YouTuber. It all started with a toothsome Nihari at Gul's house. The traditional mutton curry was light on spice compared to its market version. Sharing the meal with Gul's father was a wonderful experience as we got to gather so many wonderful stories. After the soulful meal we headed out to the streets to explore what people have for sehri. The first stop was FKC where we had a succulent and flavourful egg roll. The filling was sufficient and well flavoured. The second stop was Irani dum tea. As the name suggests we tried an irani chai. In this the tea brew and milk are added separately. The third stop was The Aligarian Cafe. Here we tried a novel stuff called Mathri Omelette. Mathri is a special kind of crusty bread that is sourced from Aligarh. The pillowy omelette inside it makes for an irresistible combo. Next we bought some feni from Abdul Razik stall. While heading to Talib Kabab corner Anubhav was joined by one of his friends. And together we tried the toothsome kabab from Talib Kabab Corner. This was followed by sammi kabab and kadhai chicken from Amma ka Kitchen. The dishes had a homestyle appeal to it. Next was the turn of a luscious matka chai that was prepared in an earthen pot. With a boost of energy provided by the tea, we headed to Mohd Chole Kulche for a plate of creamy chole and kulcha. The final two destination were Keema Tahiri stall on Okhla main road and Pahalwan Lassi Corner. This meat and rice dish was lightly spiced with turmeric and some everyday spices. In the second place we tried some phirni and sevai with hot milk.
