Ο ξενύχτης | O Ksenichtis - Istos Korusu

This August I chimed in on a special excursion to Lesvos with Istos Korosu (choir from Turkey), the brainchild of Asineth Fotini Kokkala. Each year they gather in Mytilene for workshops on the Greek repertoire under the direction of Nikos Andrikos. In the evenings after “school” their joy spilled onto the streets and Turkish, Greek and Kurdish songs graced the air. It was deeply moving to witness these different languages flow so effortlessly. Despite the world’s tensions, music, love and meraki truly conquer all.
