Scriabin: Selected Études (Horowitz) [Score]
▶ Horowitz on Scriabin It is a noted fact that Horowitz is recognized for Scriabin not only for Rachmaninoff and others. I don't think there is anything extraordinary like he does at Chopin; it's just that all of his performance styles are exquisitely aligned with Scriabin, creating a synergy. Nevertheless, his Scriabin renditions present a surprise that cannot be easily compared to others. ▶ Horowitz on Scriabin Études Well, they are comparatively lacking to reveal all of Horowitz. I mean, they are nice enough. Op. 2 No. 1 was one of his most popular encore pieces. But actually he hadn't included other études in his recitals often. Most of them are left with only one studio recording, as opposed to the Rachmaninoff Étude-tableaux where you can mostly find multiple live recordings. I don't mean his renditions are bad. You can experience a new taste that is markedly different from other Scriabin recordings. If you're interested in this, I recommend you listen to his Sonata recordings. -- timestamps -- 00:00 Op. 2 No. 1 in c♯ minor: Andante (1985 Studio) 03:01 Op. 8 No. 1 in C♯ major: Allegro (1980 Live) 04:30 Op. 8 No. 2 in f♯ minor: A capriccio, con forza (1972 Studio) 06:01 Op. 8 No. 8 in A♭ major: Lento (1972 Studio) 09:44 Op. 8 No. 10 in D♭ major: Allegro (1972 Studio) 11:31 Op. 8 No. 11 in b♭ minor: Andante cantabile (1972 Studio) 15:30 Op. 8 No. 12 in d♯ minor: Patetico (1968 Live) 17:49 Op. 42 No. 3 in F♯ major: Prestissimo (1972 Studio) 18:40 Op. 42 No. 4 in F♯ major: Andante (1972 Studio) 21:19 Op. 42 No. 5 in c♯ minor: Affanato (1972 Studio) 24:27 Op. 65 No. 3: Molto vivace (1972 Studio)
