Restoration: Lowering a 50's Chevy Fleetine Without Air Ride

In this video, Nick & Pop put a set of 3" lowering blocks on the 1950 Chevy Fleetline restoration project. Using a simple old school method, they actually get 3.5" of drop out of it! This simple lowering trick can be used with just about any old hot rod, rat rod, or muscle car that has a leaf spring rear suspension, and was just the ticket for this rat rod build. If you've got any style of hot rod without air ride or air suspension, this method of lowering your classic might be the best solution. Front suspension is a little trickier, though, and getting a classic car lowered on the front really depends on the original style of suspension. Drop spindles are a common option, as are offset control arms, adding adjustable coil over suspension, or just plain old cutting a coil or two out of the original spring.
